Elizabeth Taylor was once regarded as the most beautiful woman in the world. She will always be remembered as an icon of fashion, style and elegance.
The recent Christie's auction of Taylor's jewelry was a once-in-a-lifetime event, said the National Jeweler.
Even a set of cut-out paper jewelry sold for more than $6,000.
"It’s magic,” said Rahul Kadakia, head of jewelry for Christie’s Americas, after the auction.
Buyers wanted a piece of the legend's collection, and they were willing to pay. Many bids exceeded the projected price by up to 500%.
The online auction sold more than $9.5 million. Paired with the live auction, this sale totaled $156.8 million. This broke 12 world records for private lot sales.
“How can you put a price on Elizabeth Taylor’s magic?” said Kadakia.
